Prefer Local Variant

This example loads the widget with ?prefer_local_variant=1 so official subdivision translations prefer local variant names when available. If no local variant exists, the regular name is used. This option only applies to official subdivisions (not extended ones).

Real example: select Egypt. For code EG-C, you will see Cairo (local variant) instead of Al Qāhirah (official name). Similarly, EG-ALX shows Alexandria instead of Al Iskandarīyah, and EG-GZ shows Giza instead of Al Jīzah.

This option works alongside romanization preference: romanization system is selected first, then local variant is preferred if available for that system.
